The mill “De Zoeker” (The Searcher) is an octagonal bovenkruier (windmill of which only the cap is movable) with scaffolding as well, which is being propped up by several stamps according to Zaanse-style. In 1925 “De Zoeker” was severely damaged by a wind-spout, but thanks to a collection in the Zaan-area it could be repaired. The disaster leaded to the foundation of association “De Zaansche Molen”, which owns “De Zoeker” in the meantime, as well as several other mills on the Zaanse Schans. Mill “De Zoeker” moved in 1968 to the former mill-yard of oil-mill “De Wind”, which burned in 1914.
The mill presses oil from ground-nut-leavings and grinds cocoa-leavings.
