The mill “De Gekroonde Poelenburg” (The Crowned Poelenburg) is a paltrok-mill (wood-saw-mill which can be turned to the wind on rollers over a brick-wall in one piece) build in 1869. It was located at “het Oostzijderveld” in Zaandam till 1963. The mill is a remarkable appearance. Not only because of it’s form but also because of the fact that it is almost completely tarred black. The mill has a wingspread of 20,30 meters. Actually “De Gekroonde Poelenburg” is mill “De Locomotief” (The Locomotive) from Koog aan de Zaan, which moved to the Oostzijderveld after the 18th century mill “Poelenburg” was burned in 1903. Now it is situated outside the dike on the mill-yard of the former peeling mill “De Grootvorst” (The Grand Duke) which burned in 1697 (the year of the visit of Peter the Great) and in 1928.
